The Origin Story: No. 335 Smokejumper Meets No. 375 Logger
We are proud to work with one of the most respected heritage bootmakers, White's Boots of Spokane, Washington, since 1853. Following their lead and much conversation, we explored their 170-year archive and were shown two models from an original lithographic catalog that demanded recreation: the No. 335 Smokejumper and the No. 375 Logger (see attached photos of the original catalog).
To us, origin stories are the best kind to tell. So, we developed a boot for year round functionality, by combining the best details from both its predecessors. The goal was simple: to perfect the project as if these boots came straight out of a time machine.
Supergrip II: The Jade Green Sole
In our company archives lies a pair of 1930s linesman boots with jade green soles, originally made by O'Sullivan's, the first producer of rubber shoe soles back in 1899. They were modified with steel insteps for use as Bell Systems pole climbing linemen.
Dr. Sole actively produces the Supergrip II, a sole that matches this historic green as closely as possible in modern production.
Built Bomb Proof: The Collaboration Process
Working with their Creative Director through materials choices, colors, finishes, and last shape, we created a workhorse boot built bomb proof per the White's standard. This is the first of many collaborations with White's, and we're more than satisfied with how these came together.
This partnership ensures White's 170 year bootmaking tradition continues through collaborations that honor their archive while serving modern craftsmen.
