Inspired by a true story, we have accurately reproduced a graphic t-shirt to commemorate the "Hot Night in Old Greensborough"
A local family friend who gifted one of our owners the original shirt, and told us the following backstory:
On April 13, 1985 a fire was started in the old Odell Hardware warehouse. What started as a small fire grew to inflame the entire building, then jumped along buildings on the western side of Davie Street, and subsequently jumped the block across Washington Street. Numerous buildings were completely burnt out, and the GFD retreated back to Greene Street, hosing down the buildings on the eastern side of Elm Street on their way to protect the courthouse. One witness we know who drove to witness the fire first-hand told us that, after seeing the shirt, that the flames really were towering over buildings. Shortly after the fire, a local artist drew artwork commemorating the occurrence, and had t-shirts printed with this graphic on them, selling them at local bars..
We printed these with an accurate heavy discharge of screen print ink onto a beautiful jet black 100% ringspun cotton made in USA t-shirt, with a classic fit.
Runs true to size.
