The Grand Pere Workshirt was first introduced by us in 2015, and has been a best-seller in our store for years. The pattern is modeled from early workshirts from 1910-1920's era, when pullover models were commonly made products among workwear manufacturers nationwide. Other features from 20th century work clothing include the dust-proof collar, also known as a chinstrap, triangular gussets at the bottom of the felled side seams for tear prevention, and an expansion pocket, sometimes referred to as a cigarette pocket, a trademark of Big Yank and Milton F. Goodman workshirts produced by the Reliance Mfg. Co., a coveted vintage piece by collectors worldwide. Finished with melamine shatterproof black 4-eye buttons, and a woven Hudson's Hill label in the collar stand. Single needle lockstitch construction, doubled, throughout. The Grand Pere Workshirt is constructed with colorfast 100% cotton 5oz chambray cloth from the now defunct Swift Mills of Columbus, Georgia. It's the perfect year-round weight to layer in cooler months and wear as a single layer in the summer, and the shade of cloth and details make it an essential piece in your wardrobe that both dresses up and can be easily worn casually. Trust us, you'll love it.
This shirt fits true to size with a slightly modern torso, and the cloth is sanforized, so do not expect any significant shrinkage in the wash.
