The Gold Standard of American Slide Footwear

Working over the last few months with Marcell Mrsan of Hardworking Phil, we created what we believe to be the benchmark of Made in USA slide footwear; grail-level unisex slides. The bill of materials, build techniques, and thoughtfulness will make these a fixture in any wardrobe for years to come. This second iteration comes in black leather with a natural lining, creating a soft, even surface throughout the interior.

What's Horween and What's Dublin?

The leather choice for this iteration comes from Horween Leather Co., one of America's last great tanneries, based in Chicago. Let's do a brief deep dive.

Dublin is tanned using a Cordovan vegetable tanning liquor recipe that is over a century old. Within this tanning process, it uses a richer blend of oils and waxes than what is found in traditional vegetable tanning, which results in a leather that will patina beautifully. In the finishing process, the Dublin leather is infused with a proprietary blend of natural waxes and then ironed to create a smooth surface with a rich tonal appearance that showcases the natural grain, especially as it breaks in.

This Dublin line of hides is luxury tier leather designed to age gracefully, shaping to your foot for a custom fit. As it breaks in and develops its unique patina, your slippers tell your story. Ultimately, these slides will get richer with every wear.

Built to Go Places

The goal behind this slide was simple: a casual slide that doesn't stay home, one that can actually go places, wears in rather than out, and is able to be resoled time and time again. Nothing beats a shoe you can slip on in a hurry (no hands required) with soles that can walk for miles.

Made in Mount Joy, Pennsylvania

All slides are handcrafted at Hardworking Phil's factory in Mount Joy, Pennsylvania by a team of trained craftspeople. Owner Marcell Mrsan holds a Master Shoemaker certificate from the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and represents the sixth generation of leatherworkers in his family. He's become a consulting resource for numerous Pacific Northwest footwear brands, and his instructional textbooks on handmade shoemaking are used by makers worldwide.

Sizing Notes

Please refer to our Sizing and How to Wear page for comprehensive sizing information. As a general rule of thumb, when in doubt, size up. After our team has successfully field tested sizing, we recommend that you order your correct size if you are a whole size, but if you are a half size we suggest you order the next size up.
